Once we have performed a thorough consultation and Test Patch, we will determine what settings will be used for your treatment according to your skin colour and the coarseness of the hair being treated.

Next a handpiece with cooled tip technology for client comfort is placed over a cold gel that is applied on your skin, followed by a flash of high intensity, filtered light. You may feel a slight sting, like the flick of a rubber band with slight heat, but this only lasts a fraction of a second.

Please note, IPL hair removal is a specialized medical procedure that requires certain safety guidelines, and sadly not all salons hold the same safety standards. The skills and knowledge of your IPL Hair Removal technician along with proof of IPL qualification is very important!

There is little to no down time with IPL. Your hairs will fall out 1-3 weeks after the treatment. You can expect an average of 10- 20 percent hair reduction after the first treatment.

• Book your consultation and test patch – must be 4-7 days prior to commencing your first treatment.
• The hair being treated should not be tweezed or waxed for 1 month prior to treatments.
• It is important to avoid sun tanning, spray tanning, waxing, or tweezing the area for at least 4 weeks before your treatment.
• Upon your first treatment shave the area (leaving a small patch unshaved) immediately before coming in.
• For subsequent treatments shave the area completely before coming in.

Hair growth goes through a number of different phases, and will only be eliminated in an active phase. This is why a number of treatments are required, approximately 6-10 treatments is necessary – spacing will depend on the area being treated. We will advise you of the recommended spacing to achieve the most significant results. Each treatment generally takes 20 minutes or less.

The ideal candidate is anyone who has unwanted hair that appears dark in colour. The darker and coarser the hair appears, the more effective the treatment will be. Finer, lighter coloured hairs often require more treatments and do not always respond well.

The number of sessions you will need depends on many factors including area of the body treated, skin colour,coarseness of the hair, and any underlying health conditions.
